Automating the posting of results requires:

  1. login to the web site
  2. a file in .csv format with column headings (not necessarily in this order):
entity_typeentity_idanalyte_nameanalyte_valueanalyte_unitanalyte_source
  • entity_type: always "node"
  • entity_id: the Content ID of the Water Sample tested for the analyte
    • from the Navigation Menu choose Field Trips
    • select the appropriate field trip (date - sampling group)
    • all the samples (sites) of the field trip are listed, with their Content IDs
  • analyte_name, analyte_value, & analyte_unit: from the file containing the report submitted by the laboratory
  • analyte_source: usually "C" for CARO Lab

To import the .csv file:

  1. using the Admin Menu choose Structure > Webforms > Forms
  2. select the Analyte form
  3. from the drop-down Tabs on the form select "Results"
  4. from the submenu select "Upload"
  5. "Browse" and upload the Submission CSV file, and select "Continue"
  6. Carefully examine the Review mapping to be sure all above fields are represented
  7. Check "Treat all warnings as errors" and "Yes, I want to import these submissions", then "Import"
  8. Carefully examine the resulting message concerning the number of transactions processed, and particularly whether any were skipped (none will have been updated, because no UUID is included - see Correcting Analyte Posts).

The accepted format for reporting results from samples sent to a laboratory like CARO Analytical Services is Portable Document Format developed by Adobe, known as PDF. This provides only a difficult method of uploading a batch of results to this web site, so in most cases other derivative sources from CARO have been used.
